Taylor Merley J. Taylor, 85, formerly of Rt. 9, Elizabethton, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and the son of the late Henry and Sarah Fine Campbell Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Phoebe Campbell Taylor, August 27, 1999. Mr. Taylor was a retired employee of East Tennessee Undergarment Company and a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Lillian Morris, Elizabethton; three nieces, Mrs. Gale Aurelio, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Faye Barnes, Greeneville, and Mrs. Dremma Garland, Elizabethton; and a nephew, Roger Taylor, Elizabethton. Taylor, 85, formerly of Rt. 9, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, July 30, 2000, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Richard Estep and Mr. David Wolfe, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ray Don Markland. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, at Taylor Cemetery in Rome Hollow. Honorary pallbearers will be the Doctors and Nursing Staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family, friends and ministers will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday for the graveside service.
