Taylor 89, formerly of Rt.5, Elizabethton died Thursday morning, August 15, 1991 in the Colonial Hill Health Care Center, Johnson City, following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was a native and life-long resident of Carter County and the son of the late Allen and Zella Taylor. He was a retired construction worker for Summers-Taylor and a member and Deacon of the Moores Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Mr. Taylor was preceeded in death by his wife, Mrs. Edna Bays Taylor in 1966, a son, Robert Glenn Taylor in 1988, and a grandson, Johnny McCarter in 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Wechance and Mrs. Harriett Page, both of Rt. 11, Elizabethton, a son, James F. Taylor of Bluff City, three sisters, Mrs. Tessie Hall, Courtyard Apts., Elizabethton, Mrs. Neva Champion Rt.2, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Martha Simerly of Elizabethton. Twelve grand- children, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel is in charge of arrangements. TAYLOR- Funeral Services for Roy E. Taylor 89, formerly of Rt.5, Elizabethton, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Moores Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. O.P. Stokes, Rev. Clarence Phillips and Rev. Curtis Hurt officiating. Music will be under the direction of Brenda Taylor and Jennifer Peters. Interment will be in the Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. Saturday will be R.H. Taylor, Leonard Bowers, Granville Taylor, Wayne Pierce, Norris Shell, Robert Wright, and J.N. Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Roby Taylor, Leonard Taylor, Herman Deal, Paul Taylor, Webster Lipps, and Clyde Peters. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home or at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harriett Page, Rt. ll, Bob Little Road, Elizabethton, and any time.
