Taylor Ruben M. Taylor, 79, 174 Hurley Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, August 13, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Joe and Grace Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen J. Taylor, December 8, 1998, a brother, Paul Taylor, and two sisters, Beulah Garland and Beryl Lewis. Mr. Taylor was a member of Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 30 years of service in the D.D. Twisting Department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #17. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Eddie Presnell and Betty and Woodrow Richardson, all of Elizabethton; a brother, Luther Taylor, Elizabethton; and two sisters, Hazel Hall and Magdeline Peters, both of Elizabethton. Eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friends, Terry, Rosalee, Amanda and Ryan Oaks and Alice Peters, and a special caregiver, Betty Collins. Taylor, 79, 174 Hurley Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, August 13, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. Sonny Thomas, the Rev. Willie Campbell and the Rev. Keith Stockton officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 8:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
