CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Paul Edward Taylor, 4 Apr 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Paul Edward Taylor, 76, formerly of S. Main Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Hospice of Metro Denver Care Center, Aurora, Colo., after an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was a native of Carter County and a son of the late George W. and Mary Roberts Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Taylor had lived in Colorado for the past two years. He was a retired auto mechanic and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton. He was a member and Past Master of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and a member of Jericho Shrine Temple, Kingsport. Mr. Taylor had served in the United States Air Force. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Campbell Taylor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Paulette and Paul Johnson, Aurora, Colo., and Mitzi and Keith Phillips, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Curtis, Christie, Rachel, Matthew and Dustin; and a great-grandson, Connor. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phil Poston officiating. Music will be provided by Cathy Curtis, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:15 a.m. Friday, will be Norman Taylor, Sam Bradshaw, Jim Bishop, Mike Peters, Bobby Campbell, Spencer "Bo" Campbell, Paul Campbell and Harold Bill Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Richards, Packy Fair, Floyd Nave, F.D. Elliott, Ken Wickware, James Estep, John R. Campbell, Larry Burrow, Mac Merritt, Johnny Fields and Harry Moore. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Keith Phillips, 412 S. Main Street, Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Taylor to the Building Fund of First Free Will Baptist Church. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
