CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Billy Jack Tipton, 16 Mar 2004

Billy Jack Tipton, 74, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Roan Mountain, 
died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Gilchrist Center for Hospice, Towson, 
Md., following an extended illness.
Mr. Tipton was a native of Carter County and the son of the late James 
B. and Julia A. Tipton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nellie 
Cordell, and three brothers, Lincoln Tipton, Herbert Tipton and Charles 
Tipton. 
Mr. Tipton was a forklift operator with an automobile manufacturing 
company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. 
Survivors include his wife, Eddie J. Birchfield Tipton, of the home; a 
daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bruce Kordon, Baltimore, Md.; a 
granddaughter, Ally Kordon, Baltimore, Md.; his mother-in-law, Maud 
Holden, Roan Mountain; three brothers, James Tipton, Roan Mountain, Ted 
Tipton and Johnny Tipton, both of Hampton; three sisters, Frances Goins, 
Roan Mountain, Bonnie Montgomery, Elizabethton, and Genievie Tipton, Roan 
Mountain; and special friends, Clyde Jr. and Ann Sheets, Baltimore, Md. 
Several nieces and nephews also survive. 
The funeral service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, at 
Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. 
Jess Sheets officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral 
home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside 
service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 
at Tipton Family Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be 
Rodney Tipton, Keith Tipton, Roger Tipton, Todd Montgomery, Scott Tipton, 
Tracy Tipton, Rich Birchfield and Brad Holden. Military Honors will be 
accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Those who plan 
to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 
a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 
Hospice of Baltimore, 6601 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21204.
