Rose L. Townsend

Rose Lee Townsend, 91, formerly of 2104 Edge Hill Circle, Johnson City, 
died Friday, November 15, 2002, at Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton.
Mrs. Townsend was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late 
Grover Cleveland and Ollie Fair Bowling. She was also preceded in death 
by her husband, Conley Townsend.
Mrs. Townsend was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was a homemaker 
and a Girls Club Teacher.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Taylor, Johnson City; a sister, 
Edna Smith, Hampton; and two grandsons, James C. Nelms and Mark A. Nelms, 
both of Virginia. Seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews 
also survive.

TOWNSEND -- Graveside services for Rose Lee Townsend, 91, formerly of 2104 
Edge Hill Circle, Johnson City, who died Friday, November 15, 2002, will 
be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, November 18, at Milligan College Cemetery 
with Pastor Gary Thacker officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be David 
Dossett, Victor Johnson, Tommy Michael, Gordon Smith, Terry L. Smith, Jay 
Smith and Jim Simmons. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are 
asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Monday. Friends may call at 
the funeral home at any time. Words of sympathy may be sent to the family
