Ruth L. Townsend

Mrs. Ruth Lacey Townsend, 83, 796 Watauga Road, Watauga, died Tuesday, 
September 2, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Townsend was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late 
James A. and Nannie Feathers Lacey. She was also preceded in death by her 
husband, Hobert Townsend, June 11, 1994, and three brothers, James Lacey, 
Clyde Lacey and Howard Lacey.
Mrs. Townsend was an active member of Brick Christian Church and a member 
of the Watauga Senior Citizens. She was a homemaker. 
Survivors include a brother, Riley Lacey, Watauga. Several nieces, nephews, 
great-nieces and great-nephews and many special friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Townsend will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, 
September 5, at Brick Christian Church with Dr. Don Marshall, minister, 
officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley 
Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. 
Honorary pallbearers will be surviving members of the Ruth Lacey and Hobert 
Townsend families and her special church family. The family will receive 
friends at Brick Christian Church from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday. In lieu of 
flowers, memorials may be made to Brick Christian Church, 815 Watauga Road, 
Watauga, TN 37694. Online condolences may be sent to the family through our
