Bobby G. Vance 





    Bobby Gene Vance, 73, 215 Shell Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, 

December 6, 2006, from injuries sustained in a car accident. 





    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Henry and 

Bessie Miller Vance. 





    Mr. Vance was a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church and retired 

from the Baltimore City School System. 





    In addition to his parents, Mr. Vance was preceded in death by a son, 

Randy Gene Vance, and a sister, Virginia Holtsclaw. 





    Survivors include his wife, Gladys Vance, of the home; two daughters, Lisa 

Marie Perrigoy of Glen Burnie, Md., and Tammy Jane Miller of Gwynn Oak, Md.; 

three brothers, James R. Vance of California, Kelly E. Vance of Roan Mountain 

and William "Roger" Vance of Kingsport; two sisters, Elwanda Nave of 

Elizabethton and Yvonne Birchfield of California; and six grandchildren, 

Anthony "Scott" Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Zachary Perrigoy, Jessica Miller, 

Jacob Perrigoy and Brandi Miller. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 





    The funeral service for Mr. Vance will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, 

December 14, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with 

Mr. Gerald Holly, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in 

the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The 

graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, at 

Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those attending will meet at the Rhododendron 

Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active 

pallbearers will be Anthony "Scott" Miller, Johnny Ledford, T.J. Shell, 

Kenneth Shell, Walton Heaton, Rick Shell and Charles Ellis. Honorary 

pallbearers will be Kelly Vance, Roger Vance, Claude Nave and the men of Lower 

Shell Creek Christian Church. Condolence messages may be sent to the family at
