VanHuss 1/17/00 Mrs. Hazel Ruby VanHuss, 86, 122 Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton, died Sunday, January 16, 2000, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mrs. VanHuss was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Forney and Elizabeth Smith Buckles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allison VanHuss, and four brothers. Mrs. VanHuss had lived in Hickory, N.C., for a number of years where she retired from the Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Hunter First Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Gene Waters, Elizabethton, and Audrey and Melvin Hall, Hickory, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Forney and Beverly VanHuss, Hickory, N.C.; a sister, Christine Bowers, Sevier Gardens, Elizabethton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Susie Waters and Alice Minton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. VANHUSS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Ruby VanHuss, 86, 122 Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Shane Waters and Rev. Tony Oliver officiating. Phillip Waters will provide the music. Interment will be in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Paul Waters II, Paul Waters III, Jimmy Bowling, Mark Sturgill, Julian Waters, Shane Waters, Jeffrey Honeycutt and Lawrence Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Mann, Phillip Waters, Melvin Hall, Gene Waters, Dakota Waters, Patrick Buckles, Ed Shell and Mike Tingle. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gene Waters, 122 Sunrise Drive, Elizabethton. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
