CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Kate Vanhuss, 12 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Kate Vanhuss Miss Kate Vanhuss, 90, Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas S. and Edith Blevins Vanhuss. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Miss Vanhuss was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Survivors include 10 nephews, Gerald Peters, Melvin Buckles, Houston Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Bill Wilson, all of Elizabethton, Brady Vanhuss and Dale Vanhuss, both of Georgia, Estel Vanhuss of Florida, Sherrill Vanhuss of Virginia, and Fornie Vanhuss of North Carolina; four nieces, Pauline Ensor and Shirley Waters, both of Elizabethton, Trula Frost, Nashville, and Audrey Hall of North Carolina; and special friends, Tom and Marie Oxendine. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. VANHUSS -- Graveside services for Miss Kate Vanhuss, 90, Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bobby Stout and the Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Steve Buckles, Gerald Peters, Brady Vanhuss, Houston Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Fornie Vanhuss. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and the third floor nursing staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
