CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Matoka Love Vines, 6 Jul 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mrs. Matoka Love Vines, 1053 Rittertown Road, Hampton, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Vines was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late George and Bess McKinney Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Franklin and Conley Franklin Jr., three sisters, Geraldine Rasnick, Opal Smith and Elvina McNabb, and a granddaughter, Carrie Potee. Mrs. Vines was a homemaker and a member of Rittertown Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, James W. Vines, of the home; a son, James Vines Jr., Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, JoAnn Robbins, Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Rhoda Riddle, Elizabethton; two brothers, Robert Wright Sr. and Glenn Wright, both of Elizabethton; three grandsons, Gregory Franklin, Fall Branch, Aaron Julian and James Vines III, both of Baltimore, Md.; four granddaughters, Deborah Humphries, Melinda Atkinson and Kimberly King, all of Baltimore, Md., and Crystal Williams, Laurel, Del.; 15 great-grandchildren; and a special daughter-in-law, Sharon Lovelace, Gray. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Vines will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Music will be under the direction of David Arney, organist. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Roy McKinney, Arvil McKinney, Richard Oliver, Phil Robbins, Larry McKinney and Bobby Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Lovelace and Spurgeon Smith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may also call at the residence on Rittertown Road, Hampton, at anytime.
