CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Nora Elizabeth Vandeventer, 9 Apr 2005

Nora Elizabeth Vandeventer, age 94, died at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following a
lengthy illness. Nora was a native of Carter County and a former resident of
the Stoney Creek Community. She had been a resident of Ivy Hall Nursing Home
for the past five years. 

Nora was the daughter of the late Cameron and Mollie Berry Vandeventer. She
was preceded in death by a daughter, Novella Pierce, in 2000, and three
brothers, Charles, Lionel and Luther Vandeventer.

Survivors include a son-in-law, James T. Pierce, numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.

At the time of her death Ms. Vandeventer was the oldest living member of
Caldwell Springs Baptist Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers
Sunday School Class. In addition to being a homemaker, Ms. Vandeventer was a
former employee of the American Bemberg and North American Rayon plants in
Elizabethton.

The funeral service for Ms. Vandeventer will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday,
April 11, 2005, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Dr.
William Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial
Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service
Monday. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who
prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Alzheimer's
Association, Northeast TN Chapter, 207 N. Boone Street, Suite 1050, Johnson
City, TN 37601, or Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, 1509 Blue Springs Road,
Elizabethton, TN 37643. Online condolences may be sent to the family through
