Walker Carlos Gene Walker, 70, 518 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, following a short illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Chet and Bessie Nidiffer Walker. Carlos was retired as a millwright. He was a hard working man. He loved ALL of his family and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing and cooking. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemarie Hill, three brothers, Lester, Bill and Floyd Walker, and a sister, Lola Walker. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Pless and Donna Walker of Greeneville, Rick and Beverly Walker of Elizabethton and Chris and Tammy Walker of Bluff City; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and Danny Winters of Roan Mountain, Mary Lou Walker of Elizabethton, Tina and Tom Hornsby of Ohio, Lola E. Walker, Glenda Walker and Carolyn and Matt Dayton, all of Johnson City; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Johnny and Trula Walker of Elizabethton, Lawrence Walker of Elizabethton and Jack and Charlotte Walker of Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Lawrence Wright and Zelma and Alfred Lyons, all of Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Walker of Elizabethton; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ethel Hardin, Allen Hamm, Katie Bowers, Wanda and Tommy McKeehan, V. Campbell and Bud Street. The funeral service for Mr. Walker will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, January 12, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. John Vance and Rev. Greg Whitehead officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Allen Paul, Steven Walker, Rangan Soliday, Jeffrey Graham, Gary Graham, Carlos Hill, Bill Highsmith and Roger Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hill, Danny Winters, Grant Colbaugh and Roy Nidiffer. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center -- Halls 2500, 2600 and 2800, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Kyte, Anderson Kirk (A.K.) RN, Judy Barber RN and Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday or at the residence, 518 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton, at anytime.
