Ward Carl C. Ward, 85, 912 Walker Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday morning, September 21, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Ward was a native of Johnson County and the son of the late James Son and Margaret Loretta Wilson Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Barry Ward, in 2003, and by nine brothers and sisters. Mr. Ward had lived in Elizabethton since 1952. He was a 1938 graduate of Johnson County High School and had received a degree in agriculture from Berea College in Berea, Ky. He retired after 33 years of service from Raytheon Corporation. Mr. Ward was a member of First Christian Church and was an avid U.T. fan. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post No. 2166. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Dr. John Holland, Elizabethton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Delinda Ward, Kingsport, and Barry Ward, of the home; four grandchildren, Sharon and Laura Holland, Sgt. Josh Ward and Victoria Ward; a twin brother, Carter H. Ward, Los Alamos, N.M.; and two very special friends, Ray Livingston and Bob McClure. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Ward will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 22, with Dr. Donald Marshall and Mr. Jim Hutchinson officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Reynolds. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Brent Nidiffer officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Sunday School Class of First Christian Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
