Ward Leonard C. Ward, 74, passed away Friday, November 4, 2005, at Schamokom Hospital, Mount Carmel, Pa. Mr. Ward was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Wesley Frelen Ward and Christa Hicks Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, RaeAnn Oaks Ward, a twin brother, Dennard T. Ward, Jerry Ward, and a sister, Mildred Ward Carr. Mr. Ward was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Captain Lynn H. Folson Post #2166, Elizabethton. He formerly served with the Honor Guard at the Elizabethton VFW. Mr. Ward spent most of his life in Maryland and worked as a rigger with his two brothers. He retired and moved to Elysburg, Pa., where his wife's family lived. Survivors include three sisters, Maxie Young, Annie Davis and Lula Ward, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Lee R. Ward, Elizabethton, and Dexter C. Ward, Greeneville; and three children, Patrick Ward, Elizabeth and Anita Ward, all of Florida. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
