Webb Arlie Wayman Webb, 80, 309 Ferguson Avenue, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Webb was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Arlie Darrell and Naomi O'Quinn Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Gillis Webb, March 9, 2006, and a brother, Vernon Webb. Mr. Webb was a millwright at North American Rayon Corporation for over 30 years. He was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166 and was of the Baptist faith. He was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Harris, Elizabethton, and Gerri and Frank Knight, King, N.C., and a special niece, Deborah Webb, Elizabethton. Several other nieces and nephews and his little buddy, "Tuffy," also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Webb will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 14, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166 and the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Tony Webb, Harley Phillips, Jason Pierce, Brandon Stalcup, Frank Knight, Darrell Knight and Shawn Malone. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman "Wormy" Simerly, Bill Mathes, Arthur Blevins, Dana Dykes, Fred Carver, Sam Harrison, Dan Jenkins and Larry Andes. The family wishes to express a thank you to Adventa Hospice for the special care given to Mr. Webb. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service, or at the residence, 309 Ferguson Avenue, Elizabethton, at anytime.
