White Wesley W. White, 73, 2398 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Paul and Veda Hodge White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman White. Mr. White was a graduate of Unaka High School. He formerly was employed by Great Lakes Research Corporation and retired due to disability from the Spinning Department of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member and deacon for over 40 years at Poplar Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Dashiel Masonic Lodge No. 238. Mr. White was an avid grouse hunter and a Boston Red Sox Baseball fan. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Smith White; a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Kelly Oliver of Elizabethton; and two grandchildren, Lacey Ann Oliver and Joe Wesley Oliver. Funeral services for Mr. White will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson and the Rev. Eric Wright officiating. Music will be provided by Dale Williams and Edwin Taylor. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 8, at Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday, will be Glenn Ensor, William Richardson, Glen Arnold, Hampton Peters Jr., Rondal Lowe and Lawrence Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Arnold, Junior Taylor, John Garland, A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, Buford Lowenstein, Richard "Jar Fly" Dugger, David Blackburn, Wesley Murray, John Winninger, Glen White and the deacons of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
