White Wilma Mae White, 87, 107 Earl McKinney Road, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late W.G. and Fannie White Lewis. Mrs. White was a member of Doe River Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was formerly a clerk in the County Judges Office at the Carter County Courthouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard O. White, three sisters, Dorothy Miller, Dove Williams and Marie Millsaps, and two brothers, Ivan Lewis and Don Lewis. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Brenda White and Robert and Penny White, all of Elizabethton; a daughter, Susan Townsend of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. White will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at Doe River Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Hawk and Rev. Jim Lindsay officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mary Louise Lindsay, pianist, and Emery Cordell, soloist. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service hour. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 13, at Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian White, David Townsend, Michael White, Jon Christian White, Greg White, Walt Tittle III and Anthony Sieiro. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers to those who desire memorials may be made to Doe River Baptist Church Building Fund, 113 Avon Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
