Wilson George B. Wilson, 81, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, formerly of 809 Fourth Street, Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord, Monday, July 17, 2006, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Wilson was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Hobert and Belle Loudy Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Lewis Wilson, April 1987; his second wife, Opal P. Wilson, August 23, 2005; a son, Jerry Lynn Wilson; five sisters, Alice Pritchard, Gladys Arnold, Elizabeth Keller, Virginia Arnett and Janie Miller; and a brother, Johnny Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a retired employee of Summers-Taylor. He was a member and trustee of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Matoka and Rev. Jerry Stout, Elizabethton, Jeanette and Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff, Johnson City, and Kathy and Ronnie Fox, Mars Hill, N.C.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Judy Wilson, Mountain City, and Dudley Wilson, Elizabethton; two stepsons and their wives, Donald and Sue Peters and Terry and Bobbie Peters, all of Elizabethton; and three sisters, Ellen Canter, Josie Canter and Ruth Nave, all of Elizabethton. Six grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh officiating. Music will be provided by the New Liberty Quartet and Kenny Greer. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff and the Rev. Jerry Stout officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, will be Michael Wilson, Jason Wilson, Mack Smith, Gregory Wilson, Gene Bowers, Kenneth Colbaugh, Clayton Woodby and Shawna Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Perry, Bill McKinney, his church family and the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of any of the children. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Wilson to the Activities Fund of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, 1641 Hwy. 19E Bypass, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
