Wilson James M. Wilson, age 76, 130 Hyder St., Elizabethton, died Friday, June 23, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness. He was a Carter County native and a son of the late Robert Butler and Cora Lewis Wilson. Mr. Wilson worked as a supervisor for Columbia Electric and TPI Corp. and retired from NARC. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing and was an Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Wilson also enjoyed playing with his special little friends Mason Richardson, Kyndal and Chandler Thomas, Seth Williams and Lyndsi Grindstaff. He was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruby Williams, Margaret Blackburn, Wilma Chambers, Nora Hardin, Patsy Wilson and one brother, Capt. Roy H. Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Jonnie Lewis Wilson, with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 10, of the home; a special nephew, Michael Williams, who was like his son and had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Wilson for 17 years; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Willard Pete and Margaret Wilson and R.J. and Brenda Wilson, all of Elizabethton; and one sister and brother-in- law, Mary and Bill Mosier, Steinhatchee, Fla. Other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Wilson will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Stephen Tolley and the Rev. Stephen Harris officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Rev. Stephen Harris. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the chapel. Friends may also call at the home at any time. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, in Wilson Cemetery. Those attending are welcome to meet the family at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Sams, Rick Williams, Daniel Holder, Herman Hodge, Bobby Wilson and Bob Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Williams, A.B. Grindstaff, Wayne Birchfield, Tony Hughes, Hyatt Reece, the Rev. Jack Lloyd, Ernest "Geebe" Ritchie, Little Wilbur Camping Group, nephews and the Auditorium Class of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to American Cancer Society, 415 Washington Ave., Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family of Mr. Wilson extends a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Johnson, Adventa Hospice, Sheila and Barbara and the 5th and 7th floors' nursing staffs of Johnson City Medical Center.
