CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rev. A. G. Wagner, 1 Jun 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Rev. A. G. Wagner, 80, Summitt Ave., Elizabethton, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Norton, Va., he was the son of the late J. L. and Lillie Greer Wagner. He was founder and served as pastor of Prayer Tabernacle Church for over 50 years. He was president and co-founder of Southern Full Gospel Association of Churches and Ministers. He was preceded in death by a brother, William B. Wagner, who died during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Frances Emma Phillips Wagner, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Patsy Wagner, Johnson City, and Arlin and Diane Wagner, Elizabethton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Darlene and Charles Stinnett, Johnson City, and Karen Wagner, Elizabethton; four sisters, Marie Boswell, Massilon, Ohio; Della Barnett and Leona Boling, both of Elizabethton, and Thelma Harwood, Johnson City; two brothers, Everett D. Wagner and Murrell Wagner, both of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Rev. A.G. Wagner will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 in Prayer Tabernacle Church with Rev. Mark Hatfield and Rev. Tommy Collins officiating. Eulogy will be delivered by Mr. Darrell Wagner. Music will be under the direction of the Church Choir, accompanied by Jackie Phillips, pianist. The committal and burial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be all his brothers and sisters in Christ. The family will receive friends at the Prayer Tabernacle Church from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
