CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Effie Novella Starnes Wallace, 4 May 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Effie Novella Starnes Wallace, 79, Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Wallace was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Dewey and Dora Harrison Starnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Lee Starnes, and two sisters, Missouri Hampton and Janet Starnes. Mrs. Wallace was of the Freewill Baptist Faith and a retired employee of the Southern Restaurant. Survivors include her husband, D.S. Wallace; three daughters, Rebecca Harrison and Pam Pierce, both of Elizabethton, and Pat Winters, Spring City; a son, Jeffrey Pierce, Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Michael Harrison, Amanda Worley, Kacie Pierce, Gregory Wallace, Matthew Winters and Jennifer Winters; four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Wallace, Alexia Wallace, Jacob Worley and Callie Worley; four step-grandchildren, Amanda Metros, Katie Wallace, Stacey Wallace and Amber Wallace; and a sister, Geneva Scott, of Oregon. Funeral services for Mrs. Wallace will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Stout and the Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Music will be provided by Sheila Ruston and the Rev. Harold McNabb. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will be Bill Mosley, James Berry, Josh Metros, Brian Harrison, Justin Higgins, Mike Sheehan, Joe Stout and Mitchell Lincoln. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Frost, Hal Blevins, Gary Taylor and Shannon Taylor. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in the Wallace Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
