Ward Stanley E. Ward, 87, formerly of Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, after a short illness at Lake Mary Health and Rehab Center in Lake Mary, Fla. A native of Carter County (Fish Springs community), he was the son of the late Arthur "Jack" and Josie Lewis Ward. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Madolin Estep Ward, a brother, L.B. Ward, and a sister, Dorothy Ward. He was a member of Doe River Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp and also worked at Paty Lumber Co. He was a member of Butler Masonic Lodge Roans Creek #679 F&AM. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Larry Bailey, Sorrento, Fla., a granddaughter, Susan Elwell, Oviedo, Fla., a grandson, Shawn, of Sorrento, a sister, Edith Moody, Elizabethton, a brother, Lewis Ward, Hampton, and several nieces and nephews. Ward, 87, formerly of Elizabethton, who died Saturday, April 6, 2002, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. Fred Wade officiating. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Larry Ward, Terry Ward, L.B. Ward, Jan Ward, Dennis Ward, Shawn Bailey and Grady Elwell. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace.
