Lena L. Ward

Lena Lee Ward, 83, Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, Calif., died 
Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at her residence following a brief illness.
Mrs. Ward was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Ollie 
Collins and Lula Mae White Pierce. She was also preceded in death by two 
daughters, Evelyn Hobbs and Peggy Ward, a brother, Spencer Pierce, and two 
sisters, Shirley Pierce and Ruby Broyles.
Mrs. Ward was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia Root Hunter and Thomas 
Hunter, Ballwin, Mo.; three grandchildren, Benjamin Hobbs, Sacramento, 
Calif., Matthew Root, St. Louis, Mo., and Steve Root, Sacramento, Calif.; 
her former husband, Hobert Ward, Elizabethton; a brother, Haskel Pierce, 
Butler; and three sisters, Marie Smith and Dorothy Lee, both of Elizabethton, 
and Ethel Hinkle, Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

WARD -- Funeral services for Lena Lee Ward, 83, Greenback Lane, Citrus 
Heights, Calif., who died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, will be conducted at 2 
p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Memorial 
Cemetery in Butler. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and 
friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Root and Benjamin Hobbs. The 
family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Fireside Room of 
Tetrick Funeral Home. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make
