CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Arnold F. Ward, 21 Jul 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Arnold F. Ward Arnold F. Ward, age 77, South Hills Estate, Elizabethton, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton following a brief illness. A native of Bethany, N.C., he had lived in Elizabethton most of his life. He was the son of the late Amos and Melinda Ward. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Ward was a retired construction worker. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Ann Miller. Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilson Ward, of the home; two sons, Robin Ward, of Panama City, Fla.; Todd Ward, of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; two daughters, Amy Ward, of Atlanta, Ga.; Kristie Ward, of Sparta, N.C.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd Ward, of Boone, N.C.; John Ward, of Hickory, N.C.; Charlie Ward, of Boone, N.C.; four sisters, Myrtle Carpenter and Mamie Eller, both of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; Maxine South and Katherine South, both of Boone, N.C.; a step mother, Bessie Hollins, N.C.; two step-sons, Ricky Oliver and David Oliver, both of Elizabethton; two step-daughters, Teresa Oliver and Bonnie Miller, both of Elizabethton; nine step grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, is in charge of arrangements. WARD -- The funeral service for Arnold F. Ward, age 77, South Hills Estate, Elizabethton who died Monday, July 21, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Dean Presnell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mack Presnell. The graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors to be accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be James Hill, Tommy Roberson, Thomas Cooper, Chris Oliver, Jack Wilson and Bobby Gordon. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hilbert, Eric Bynum, Greg Miller and Derek Gouge. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace, or friends may call other times at the residence 208B South Hills Estates, Elizabethton.
