CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Oscar Woodards, 15 Feb 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Oscar Woodards Oscar Woodards, 78, of Elizabethton, died Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Life Care Center after a brief illness. Mr. Woodards was born on August 8, 1923 to the late Nathan and Martha Hall Woodards. He was a steelworker. Mr. Woodards was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Bryant; three brothers, Hoover Woodards, Jimmy Woodards, and Tommy Woodards; and one sister, Hazel Woods. Survivors include his wife, Linda Woodards, Elizabethton; two daughters, Peggy Woodards, Abingdon, Va., and Joan Bryant, Abingdon, Va.; three sisters, Shirley Rupard, Elizabethton; Georgia Wilcox, Kennett Square, Penn., and Helen Roop, Kennet Square, Penn.; two brothers, Charles Short, Shady Valley, and Johnny Woodards, Calif. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home, 300 West Main Street, Mountain City, (423) 727- 4759, is in charge of arrangements. WOODARDS -- Funeral services for Oscar Woodards, 78, of Elizabethton, who died Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Life Care Center, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Ferrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel.
