CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Dorothy M. Clark Webb, 10 Sep 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Dorothy M. Clark Webb, 82, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away Friday, September 10, 2004. Born October 5, 1921 in Carter County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late James F. and Maggie Treadway Clark. She moved to Arizona in 1953 where she was in retail sales and retired from Montgomery Ward. She was a beloved member and greeter of the Ladies' Oriental Shrine, Sphnix Chapter #65. She was a wrestling fan and loved to travel. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Lewis, and two brothers, Ralph and Ray Clark. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Melvin C. Webb; a stepdaughter, Margaret W. Hougland, Johnson City, Tenn.; two sisters, Alta Smith and Edith Forbes, both of Johnson City, Tenn.; and a brother, John R. Clark, Elizabethton, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memory Mausoleum Chapel, 719 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Memory Mausoleum. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85006. White Mrs. Veda Ann Hodge White, 91, 110 Estep Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 13, 2004, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mrs. White was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Will and Catherine Taylor Hodge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul White, in 1973, a son, Norman White, December 28, 1997, and by several brothers and sisters. Mrs. White was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church where until recent years she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the church choir. Survivors include a son and two daughters-in-law, Wesley and Kathleen White and Christine White, all of Elizabethton; two granddaughters, Ladonnia White and Betsy Oliver and her husband, Kelly, all of Elizabethton; and two great-grandchildren, Lacey Ann Oliver and Joe Oliver. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Ferguson and Rev. Eric Wright officiating. Music will be provided by Edwin Taylor, organist, and Dale Williams, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Glenn Arnold, Jeff Taylor, Hampton Peters Jr., William Richardson, Lawrence Hodge and Gene Ritchie. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Arnold, Junior Taylor, Bill Shoun, John Garland, R.M. Tester and her church family. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of Wesley and Kathleen White, 2398 Highway 91, Elizabethton, or at the residence of Christine White, 1026 Broad Street Ext., Elizabethton.
