Whaley Mrs. Grace C. Whaley, 74, 709 Carter Blvd., Elizabethton, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Whaley was a native of Roan Mountain and a daughter of the late Will and Nellie Tipton Cordell. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mrs. Whaley was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Derald L. Whaley, of the home; a daughter, Dreama Kelly, Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Earl Cordell, Johnson City; a sister, Mary Cordell, Roan Mountain; and a granddaughter, Chanin Dinelli, Albuquerque, N.M. Whaley, 74, 709 Carter Blvd., Elizabethton, who died Sunday, June 17, 2001, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Greenwell and the Rev. Bryan Shell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, in the Sermon on the Mount at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
