CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Goldie Mae Whaley, 7 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Goldie M. Whaley Goldie Mae Whaley, 75, U.G. Buckles Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Esther Whitehead Bailey. She had formerly been employed at Hermitage Nursing Home. She was a member of the Fish Springs Baptist Church but attended the Blue Springs Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Whaley, and two sisters, Mary Bailey and Loretta Carr. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carmon and Lucille Simerly and Mark Steven Barnett, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, John J. Bailey, of Kettering, Ohio, and William "Bill" Bailey, of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Flora Belle Jackson, of Butler; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. WHALEY -- Funeral services for Goldie Mae Whaley, 75, U.G. Buckles Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, April 7, 2003, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Burl Sluder officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in the Bailey Cemetery, Fish Springs Community. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be Benny Oliver, Larry Grindstaff, Brady Campbell, Dennis Jackson, Charlie Vines, and Lewis Ward. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
