Whisner 03/08/99 Hubert K. Whisner, 76, 706 Poplar Street, Elizabethton, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Whisner was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Ollie and Mabel Carriger Whisner. He was also preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Whisner was a retired service station operator. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen Jenkins Whisner; a sister, Margie Cover, Elizabethton; two nieces, Marcie Reed and Ann Peters; a nephew, John Melton; and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Norma Melton. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. WHISNER -- Graveside services for Hubert K. Whisner, 76, 706 Poplar Street, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. The Calvary Baptist Church Quartet will provide the music. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be Floyd Broyles, James Riddle, Larry McKinney, Julius Taylor, Albert Hyder and Orville Phillips. Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home any time Monday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
