White NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Sarah Edith Stout White, 73, died Friday, March 23, 2001. Mrs. White was a native of Shell Creek, Tenn., and had been a peninsula resident since 1952. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Newport News, and the TEL Sunday School Class. She was a sales clerk for the Kress Department Store, the W.T. Grant Department Store and the GC Murphy Company, retiring in 1989. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her twin brother, Russell Stout, and a brother, Charlie Stout. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie B. White; a son, Keith White, Newport News; a sister, Hazel Harrison, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; a brother, George Stout, Elizabethton, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Stout and Wanda Stout, both of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Bertha Baldwin, Chesapeake; and three brothers-in-law, J.R. White, Chesapeake, Henry White, Hobbsville, N.C., and William White, Whaleyville. Funeral services and interment were held Tuesday in Hampton, Va. The family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Brotherhood, 4700 Huntington Ave., Newport News, Va., 23607 or the American Cancer Society, 729 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Suite 3C, Newport News, Va., 23606.
