Whitehead 08/30/99 Mrs. Georgia V. Townsend Whitehead, 66, 203 Tower Road, Roan Mountain, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at her residence following an illness of two years. Mrs. Whitehead was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Grandville and Carrie Whitehead Townsend. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Steward Whitehead, December 31, 1998, a great-grandson, Zachary Brooks, and three bothers. Mrs. Whitehead was a homemaker and a member of the Hopson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ronnie Holtsclaw, Joyce and Eddie Largent, Debbie and Larry Townson, Sandra and Ralph Potter, Mary Betty and Gary Parker, all of Roan Mountain, and Crystal and Rev. B.F. McKinney, Hampton; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jackie and Theresa Whitehead, Hampton, Ronnie and Roberta Whitehead, Jeffery Whitehead and Rex Whitehead, all of the home; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Juanita Jarrett, Roan Mountain, and Bobbie Ingram, Hampton; and three special friends, Mrs. R.L. Brewer, Elizabethton, Mrs. Amanda Potter and Mrs. Kathryn Holtsclaw, both of Roan Mountain. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements. WHITEHEAD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia V. Townsend Whitehead, 66, 203 Tower Road, Roan Mountain, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Gary Whitehead, Rev. Charlie Trivette and Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Sunset Free Will Baptist Youth Choir, The Heavenly Echos and Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Steward Whitehead Family Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nursing Staff of the 5300 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, Dr. David Tabor, Dr. Michael Hodge, Hospice Staff, Bill Street, Herman Stout, Robert "Tub" Rainbolt, Earl Lyons, Gommarah Paul Smith, Earl Chambers, Jake Townsend, Lee Whitehead, Earnest Whitehead, Bynom Whitehead, Mack Whitehead, David Maples and Nick Hill. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 203 Tower Road, Roan Mountain, any time. The family, friends, ministers and pallbearers will meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday for the graveside services. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements.
