CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Winifred Brinkley Wiggins, 14 Feb 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Winifred B. Wiggins Winifred Brinkley Wiggins, 96, 8740 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, died Friday, February 14, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Wiggins was a native of Carter County, a former resident of Canton, Ohio, and had lived in Roan Mountain since 1962. She was the daughter of the late James Walter and Bonnie Church Brinkley. Mrs. Wiggins was the oldest member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. She was retired from Western Auto, Canton, Ohio, after serving 19 years in the Credit Department. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Louisville, Ohio, and Roan Mountain, Cloudland Chapter No. 230. She also served as Worthy Matron in both Ohio and Tennessee Chapters and was a former state officer in Tennessee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Ohio. Mrs. Wiggins was a member of the Carter County Humane Society. She was an avid bowler up until her late 80s and sponsored a bowling team in Elizabethton. She was a former owner of Wighaven Kennels, where she raised standard poodles, and was a registered dog groomer as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Wiggins, August 24, 1978; a son, James Walter Chambers; three brothers, James W. Brinkley Jr., William "Bill" H. Brinkley and Gene Brinkley; two sisters, Evelyn Brinkley Young and Jane Brinkley; a granddaughter, Shirley Chambers Wesselgrin; and her stepmother, Esther Kernodle Brinkley. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Mary Chambers and Richard and Beverly Chambers, all of Canton, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Chambers, Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Michael Chambers, Arlington, Va., Scott Chambers, Bethesda, Md., Linda Simmons, John Chambers and Richard Chambers, all of Canton, Ohio, and Nancy Kennedy, Akron, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and George Brinkley Mull, Vale, N.C.; a special sister-in-law, Virgie Julian Brinkley, Roan Mountain; three nieces, Bonnie Dobosz, Griffith, Ind., Linda B. Morgan, Johnson City, and Patsy Young Crum, Greeneville; and four nephews, James W. Brinkley III, Jonesborough, Michael Brinkley, Ft.
