Wilson 1/19/00 Vernon McCoy Wilson, 74, 131 Audie Hardin Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000, at North Side Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Wilson was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Sol and Sarah Hayes Wilson. He was also preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of Mapes Piano String Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Hilda "Marie" Wilson, of the home; five sons, Charles Wilson, Jerry Wilson, Larry Wilson and Keith Wilson, all of Elizabethton, and Glenn Wilson, Lewisburg; three daughters, Ruby Taylor, Linda Blevins and Joan Carr, all of Elizabethton; nine brothers, Lonnie Wilson, Mike Wilson, Robert Kay Wilson, Conway Wilson, Edward Wilson, Ernest Wilson, Grady Wilson, Ralph Wilson and Arlie "Skip" Wilson, all of Elizabethton; an adopted son, Lance Estep; and three sisters, Carolyn Milam, Elizabethton, Liz Mercer and Ina Ward, Brazos Port, Texas. T wenty-four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, (423) 542-2232, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick WILSON -- Funeral services for Vernon McCoy Wilson, 74, 131 Audie Hardin Road, Elizabethton, who went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 18, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Richard Estep, Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. Johnny Vance officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ann Lowe, Dennis Laws and Sherry Peters. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Blevins Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Bowie, Mack Smith, Carroll Grindstaff, Sonny Fletcher, John Fletcher, Ralph Andes, Crandall Taylor, friends and neighbors. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. Thursday for the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
