Wilson Mattie Ophelia Avery Wilson, 91, formerly of 622 Blevins Avenue, Elizabethton, and a resident of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Wilson was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Joe and Maggie Tinner Avery. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Millard J. Wilson, in 1993, and a daughter, Leanna Ervin, in 1996. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Phillipi Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth Aretha Myles Bowers, Patricia A. and Paul Bellamy and Tanzy L. and Harry McKesson, all of Elizabethton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe N. Avery, Johnson City, and Cornelius and Carolyn Avery, Glade Springs, Va.; 19 grandchildren, Wilhelmina Turner, Teena Bradley, Forrest Mutts, Johnny Victor Mutts, Janssen Cavelli, Jacey M. Mutts, Yona P. Ragin, Eric J. Avery, Joy I. Bass, Rhonda Avery, Kim Avery, Velma Avery, April Avery, Benjamin Bellamy, Benita P. Bellamy, Barry P. Bellamy, Vico McKesson, LaToya McKesson and Freddie Ervin; 27 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Avery. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Visit our Web site at www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick WILSON -- Funeral services for Mattie Ophelia Avery Wilson, 91, formerly of 622 Blevins Avenue, Elizabethton, and a resident of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Phillipi Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Watterson, the Rev. Dennis Milligan, the Rev. Ron Owens, the Rev. Steve Wagner, the Rev. Ernie Widby and the Rev. Joe Hollifield officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Community Choir. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Everyone will meet at the Phillipi Missionary Baptist Church at 9 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Phillipi Missionary Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Tanzy L.
