CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rev. Clarence E. Wilson, Sr., 25 Nov 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Rev. Clarence E. Wilson Rev. Clarence E. Wilson, Sr., 80, 295 Bishop Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, November 25, 2002 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Jack and Lucy Owens Wilson. He was a member and former pastor of Old Horseshoe Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Wilson began his ministry in 1949 and served as pastor in several other area Freewill Baptist churches. He was a member of the Appalachian Freewill Baptist Association. He was a former employee of the State of Tennessee and was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 47 years of service. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ruth Parks; infant sister, Martha Louise Wilson; two brothers, Ted Wilson, and Stuart Wilson, and one granddaughter, Julia Wilson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hattie Markland Wilson, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Ben Lambert, Herndon, Va.; Charlotte and Vaughn Jenkins, Elizabethton; Norma Jean and Clarence Baumgardner, Elizabethton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Carl and Emma Wilson, Druculla, Ga.; Leonard Roy and Carmetta Wilson, Elizabethton; Clarence "Junior" and Kathy Wilson, Elizabethton; David Lee Wilson, Elizabethton; two sisters, Ruby Shepphard, Elizabethton; Ida DeLong, Elizabethton; four brothers, Rev. Leonard Carroll Wilson, Canton, Ohio; Paul Wilson, Piney Flats; Rev. J.D. Wilson, Spruce Pine, N.C.; Benny Wilson, New Bern, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. WILSON -- Funeral services for Rev. Clarence E. Wilson, Sr., 80, 295 Bishop Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Monday, November 25, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2002 in the Riverside Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Street, Rev. D.C. Byrd, and Rev. W.C. Amos officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ray Don Markland. Graveside services and interment will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Bowers Cemetery, Blue Springs community. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Baumgardner, Tommy Markland, Kirk Wilson, Gregory Wilson, Curtis Jenkins, Bill Ayers, Timothy Jenkins, and Timothy Baumgardner. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors, fellow ministers of Appalachian Freewill Baptist Association, fellow employees of North American Corporation, and Rusty Rumley. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
