CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mike W. Wilson, 10 Jan 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Mike W. Wilson, 86, Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Wilson was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Sol and Sarah Hayes Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon McCoy Wilson, Robert K. Wilson, Lonnie Wilson and Ernest Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and had served as a Commissioner from the 1st District of Carter County for a number of years. He was one of the Founders of the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department and served as the First President. He was a member of the Carter Christian Church, but attended Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Taylor Wilson; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Wayne Stout, Elizabethton; a grandson, Michael Stout; three sisters, Ina Wilson Ward and Lizzie Wilson Merce, both of Texas, and Carolyn Wilson Milam, Johnson City; and five brothers, Ralph, Grady, Conway, Edward and Arlie "Skip" Wilson, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. D.C. Byrd and the Rev. Tony Trodd officiating. Music will be provided by The Union Hill Trio. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Vaughn Taylor, Floyd "Todd" Lowe, Norman Taylor, Chuck Milam, Eddie Milam, Andy Wilson, Randy Wilson and Eddie Archer. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, past and present members of the Carter County Commission, Gale Colbaugh, C.W. Rambo, Don Swanner, Leroy Colbaugh, Gene Buck, Clifford Peters, Patrick McGinnis, Kenneth Colbaugh, Buford Peters and Daniel Wood. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Pallbearers, family and friends will assemble at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
