[Additional Notes by Julia Williams Kodak:] Mr John Thomas Williams was born, raised, and lived much of his adult life at Shell Creek, Tennessee. (Roan Mountain) He was a kind and gracious man, one who is spoken of only with the highest of respect and admiration by his family, neighbors, and friends. His Williams line, beginning with his father was Columbus Eugene, Frances Edmund, John Quincy, John W. Franklin, and John who came to Carter County in the late 1700's. His mother was Amelia Cowles Snider, daughter of John Snider and Lula Cornelia Hardin Church Snider. John Snider was the son of George Snider and Sarah Hardin of Boone,Watauga Co., NC. George and Sarah moved toKansas. Cornelia Hardin was the daughter of Henry Hardin and Nancy Lucinda Horton, both of Boone, Watauga Co., NC. It was Henry's brother, Jordan Councill Hardin who was once President of Milligan College. Jordan's son George also served at one time as secretary. The Hardin family also connects with the famous Councill family at Boone as well. Further information about this family can be obtained by contacting me at Jkodak@aol.com
