Williams Clyde Stewart Williams, 93, 215 Pierce Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Williams was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Mike and Alice Oliver Williams. He was also preceded in death by a son, Clyde "Andy" Williams Jr., and by three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Williams served as Carter County Road Superintendent from 1952 until 1958. He retired as Transportation Supervisor with the Carter County School System. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Flossie Williams; a daughter, Nona "Sue" Williams, Miami, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Katie Williams and Gary and Sylvia Williams, all of Elizabethton; and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Bowers, Elizabethton. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. WILLIAMS -- Funeral services for Clyde Stewart Williams, 93, 215 Pierce Street, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Orville Stokes officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, will be Von Brockwell, Willard Bowers, Carroll Lewis, Joe Williams, Raymond Williams and Garfield Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Presnell and John Presnell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
