Funeral notice appeared in the Tuesday, June 25, 1957 Elizabethton Star

Funeral services for Sherman Williams will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. 
from  the First Baptist Church at Hampton with Rev. Bill Smith and Rev. 
S.O. Pinkerton officiating.  Music will be under the direction of the 
church choir.  Burial will be made in Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Active 
pallbearers will be Dr. Howard Williams, Virgil, Ben, Willie, Albert, Tom, 
Luther and Lewis Deloach.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E.T. Pearson, 
Will Horton, Harlan Horton, Asa Wilcox, Walter Jackson, Ford Hardin, Russell 
Cordell, Wilbur Edens, Clyde Cates, Raymond Nave, Hyder Stout, Harold 
Robinson, Condon Williams, Horace Potter, M.E. Sorell, Monte Shull, Stokes 
Buchanan, Ray Johnson, Dan Carden and Fred Baker.  Flower bearers will be 
the ladies of the church.  The body will be taken to the home this afternoon 
and will be taken to the church at 1:30 Wednesday to lie in state until the 
service hour.  Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
