CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Robert Craton Williams, 3 Sep 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Robert C. Williams Robert Craton Williams, 85, 1213 Broad Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in the Hermitage Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Alfred M. and Myrtle Gregg Williams. Mr. Williams worked for many years at Montgomery Ward in Elizabethton. Following his employment at Montgomery Ward, he operated the Williams 66 Service Station at the corner of Broad and Lynn Avenues, Elizabethton. After his retirement, he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers. He was also a farmer and drove a school bus for the Carter County School System from 1976 to 1987. Mr. Williams was a member of the East River Park Christian Church. He loved to sing and sang in a quartet and the church choir. He was also a Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Williams in 1987 and Haskell Glen Williams in 1997. Survivors include his wife, Norma White Williams; a son, Bill R. Williams, of Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Martin H. Clarke, Elizabethton; two sisters, Noleta McNeal and her husband, Bruce, of Asheville, N.C., and Jessie Darrell Donelson of Danville, Va.; a grandson, Rob Williams, and his wife, Sandy Williams, of Sudbury, Mass.; two granddaughters, Jennifer Henson and her husband, Bill Henson, of Johnson City, and Rebecca Proffitt and her husband, Daniel Proffitt, of Elizabethton, and two great grandchildren, Clay and Brett Williams, of Sudbury, Mass. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Robert C. Williams will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Joel Stauffer, minister, officiating. Mr. John H. Smith will provide the music. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Goodwin, Lee Goodwin, Bill Greene, James Archer, David White, David Heaton, Wallace Timbs and Bill Finney. Friends are invited to join the family at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2003 in Happy Valley Memorial Park for a committal service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
