CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mattie L. Hicks Williams, 26 Jul 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mattie L. Hicks Williams, 83, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2004. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Hattie Hicks. She retired as manager from Harrison Shoe Store after having worked there for 42 years. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Borderview Christian Church where she served as church hostess and hospitality chairman for many years. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Hicks, in 1986, and Lewis Hicks in 2000. Survivors include her husband, Bill Williams, Keenburg Rd., Elizabethton; one sister, Dora Marie Hodge, and two brothers, Wayne Hicks and Fred Hicks, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Garden of the Last Supper with Kirk Langston and Mark Garland, ministers, officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. are Nat Proffitt, Ray Markland, Jim Counts, Doyle Turbyfill, Tom Warren and Lynn Holdren. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Class at Borderview Christian Church and employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Friends may call at the residence at any time. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to make memorials are requested to send your gifts to East Tennessee Christian Home, 517 Allen Ave., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
