Waycaster Roy Howard Waycaster, 77, 707 South Second Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Hospital, Mountain Home, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Waycaster was a lifelong resident of Carter County and a son of the late Kelly and Mae West Waycaster. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Mr. Waycaster was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was a retired custodian at Hampton High School. Survivors include two sisters, Gloria Jean McWilliams and Gay Greenlee, both of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, James C. Waycaster, Elizabethton, and Bill Waycaster Jr., Jonesborough; and a special nephew, Randy Waycaster, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Clifford Smith officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, in the Rittertown Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill, David, Jack and Ray Bunton, Bob Constantine, Bobby Brakley and Billy Bob Medearis. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Monday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service.
