CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James Coy Waycaster, 9 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- James C. Waycaster James Coy Waycaster, 82, formerly of South Second Street, Elizabethton, died Sunday, November 9, 2003, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mr. Waycaster was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Allen Kelly and Stella Mae West Waycaster. Mr. Waycaster was retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a member of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Byrd Waycaster, in 1972; his second wife, Helen Medearis Bunton Waycaster, in 2002; a son, James Allen Waycaster, in 1966; a stepson, Ray Bunton, in 2002; a stepdaughter, Sue Greene, in 2003; three brothers, Roy Waycaster, Bill Waycaster and Jack Waycaster; and two sisters, Nina Helton and Pearl Collins. Survivors include a son, Phillip Ray Waycaster, Kingsport; two stepsons, Jack Bunton, Johnson City, and William Bunton, Elizabethton; and two sisters, Gloria McWilliams, Garden City, Mich., and Gay Greenlee, Redford, Mich. Two grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Messer officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Waycaster, Mark Waycaster, Bert Waycaster, Ben McKinney, Albert Humphreys, Bobby Oliver, Kyle Lovelace, Calvin Hyder, Tom Pleasant, David Bunton, Jason Bunton, Charlie Blevins, William E. Bunton, Billy Bunton and Jim Hawk. Military Honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
