Young Georgia Mae Franklin Young, 77, 257 Williams Private Drive, Piney Flats, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Young was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late George and Myrtle May Owens Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Young. Mrs. Young was of the Baptist faith. She had worked as a salesperson at Howard Brothers and retired from Moore's Department Store. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kenneth Hodge Sr., Piney Flats; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie and Donna Williams, Bluff City, and Omar Franklin, Fort Worth, Texas; a step-son, Labon Sparks Jr. and wife Debbie, Bristol; three grandchildren, Kenneth Ray Hodge Jr. and wife Sandy, Colonial Heights, Justin Williams, Telford, and Adam Williams and wife Amy, Hampton; two great-granddaughters, Maycee Williams and Caitlin Williams; three brothers, Wayne Woody, Fort Worth, Texas, Gene Edsil Woody, Dallas, Texas, and Glenn Woody, of California; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, LaVonna Noel, Tusculum, Calif., Helen and Russell Tilley, Fort Worth, Texas, and Eleanor Woody, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Young will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 17, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Cole, Pastor Rick Shelton and Rev. Jimmy Phillips officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jerry Barnett, soloist. The graveside service and interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Friends may call at other times at the residence of her daughter, Carolyn Hodge, 257 Williams Private Drive, Piney Flats, or may call her at 767- 8078. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Ray Hodge Jr., Justin Williams, Adam Williams, Edsil Woody, James Phillips and Labon Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Jackie Cole and Albert Oliver.
