Some of the inscription is as follows: Edwin Clifton and his wife, the former Nancy Folks; Edwin's father Samuel Albert Clifton 10/6/1743 - 5/19/1834; son Edwin died 1826 age 62; Nancy B. 11/14/1772 (age 68) 1840; their children Samuel D. died in infancy; Martha B. cir 1796 mar ??? James; Wm. B. 1798; Lemuel Kirby 2nd - 1801; Mary B. cir 1803 - mar Joseph Smith; Benj. Mince b 1804 (all of these children were born in Halifax County, North Carolina). Other children were born in Montgomery Co, TN: James Mallory b 1810; Hester Ann 1812 Mar Isaac B. Rogers (1815); Rebecca B 1817 Mar Miles Harris; Edward Lindsey b 1818; Joseph John b 1819.
