This Indenture made this 17th day of August one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five, Betwen [sic] James Cook and his wife Martha Cook, Walter E. Hatfield & wife Mary Hatfield, and Neil Breeding and wife Rebecah Breeding, heirs of Andrew Hurst decsd, all of the County of Claiborne and State of Tennessee of the one part, & Levi Hurst, of the Same County and State afore said [sic] of the other part, Witnesseth that the said James Cook and wife Walter E. Hatfield and wife Neil Breeding and wife for the consideration of thrity dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledge [sic] hath and by these presents, doth hereby bargainand Sell to the sd. Levi Hurst his heirs and assigns for ever [sic] all of our undivided interest in a certain tract of land, containing fifty acres more or less lying in Sd. County, in district No. 10, adjoining the lands of Hugh Farmer's and others and bounded, as follows to wit, Begining [sic] on ash and ellum near the water on the east Side of a wet weather branch a bove [sic] a very large cleft of rocks runing [sic] north westwardly a long [sic] a marked line made by Plank and Hurst to a Shuger [sic] tree in the hollow leading to sd Planks Barn, thence northwardly a long a marked & conditional line crossing the hollow to a double dogwood thence northwardly a long a marked and condtional line up the South Side of the Comby ridge to a Stake in Sd. Planks line at or near the top of Sd. ridge, thence Eastwardly with Sd. line reverst [sic] to a Stake on the South Side of Said Comby ridge thence Southwardly with Said line reverst, ten poles to Sycamore Creek near the old rock horse ford thence down Said Creek to the mouth, thence down Clinch river to the Begining, Excepting twelve feet wide on the bank of the river and Creek, for a road, to have and to hold the Same to the said Levi Hurst his heirs and Assigns for ever, and further bind our Selfs and our heirs for ever, to defend the titlee [sic] to Said land from all persons claiming through or under us. In testimony where of we have here set our hands and Seals the day and year first a bove written, (enter lined before signed) [sic].
