CLAIBORNE COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Charles Johnson, 16 Apr 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- New Tazewell, Tenn. - Charles Johnson, 68, born Feb. 24, 1934, passed away April 16, 2002, at the Claiborne County Hospital. He attended Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired as an operating engineer from Monroe, Mich., at Union Local #324 in Detroit. After 47 years of living in Michigan he moved to Tazewell where he had lived for approximately five years. He was preceded in death by his parents: Hughie and Trula (Jennings) Johnson; five brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Etta L. (Miller) Johnson, Tazewell; daughters and sons-in-law: Kim and Darwin Paz of Monroe, Mich., Vicki and Walter Assencoa of Flint, Mich.; grand- children: Robert and Tori; sisters and brothers-in-law: Helen and Milton Painter of Tazewell, Nancy and David Neal of Monroe, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Claiborne Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Brooks officiating. Music will be provided by David Honeycutt. Burial will be in Irish Cemetery, Tazewell, with military honors conducted by the Volunteer State Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Joe Painter, David Painter, Jim Painter, Jackie Painter, Zach Turner and W.L. Grimes. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today at Claiborne Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
