E, 2nd Tennessee Cavalry. Widow's claim 127,392. Claim for minor children of Joseph Inman, Claim 179,580. Filed September 18, 1869. Adjutant General reports enrollment Dec. 15, 1862 and died while on parole at Annapolis, MD, April 10, 1863. S.G. (surgeon general?) reports him as having died April 10, 1863 at Annapolis, MD of pneumonia. Late Lieut. Testifies that he died April 10, 1863 of pneumonia fever contracted after entering the service and while in the line of duty, that he was a stout man at enlistment. Marriage of parents October 18, 1851, certified copy of public record. Widow pensioned and paid to May 28, 1867. Remarried May 28, 1867, Susannah Inman to Jas. Whitehead. Shown by certified copy of public record from the county court records certifies that James Whitehead and Susannah Inman were joined together in wedlock by one Thomas J. Keener, a justice of the peace for said County on 28th day of May 1867. In an application for arrears of pension Susannah Whitehead lists her address as Birdsville, Cocke County, Tennessee. This application was witnessed by James Whitehead and Rutherford Rose. Minors: Nancy Jane Inman born July 9, 1853 and Martha Elizabeth Inman born June 23, 1857. Proof of ages by witnesses present at birth of the older child and soon after the birth of the younger. Susannah Whitehead, William Bird and William Scrogins are held and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee in the penal sum of one hundred dollars for the true payment of which, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors or administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. The condition of this obligation is such. That, whereas, the above bound Susannah Whitehead has this day by the court aforesaid, been appointed guardian to Nancy Jane and Martha Elizabeth Inman, heirs of Joseph Inman, dec'd.. David Hicks and Perry Murrell appeared before the court and stated that they were present and saw the rites of matrimony solemnized between Joseph Inman and Susannah Rose by John Morrell, a justice of the peace for Cocke County on the 18th day of October 1851. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
