Tn., 1856 For the love and affection I entertain for my daughter Cynthia Smith I do hereby give grant and convey to her the said Cynthia Smith the following slave Vez, a girl Eliza about eleven years old. The above described negro is estimated to be worth six hundred dollars and the said Cynthia Smith acknow- ledges the receipt of that sum as an advancement from me to her towards her interest in my estate, I warrant said negro to be sound healthy and senseable and a slave for life and also warrant and defend the title to the same to the said Cynthia Smith her heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.
